Dan recently made the journey down to Aoraki (Mount Cook) to check in on progress at the spectacular Hooker Valley Bridge project. Designed by Dan and the team at DC Structures Studio, this phenomenal project is on track to be opened later this year.
Once complete, this 189m span will connect the banks of the Hooker River and become New Zealand’s longest footbridge! A huge effort is going into bringing this landmark structure to life, with the crews at Department of Conservation and Abseil Access Ltd doing an incredible job on site. And let’s be honest, there can’t be many better places in the world to turn up to work each day.
The design for this bridge is a hybrid model, combining a swing bridge with suspension bridge sections and masts at each end. For more information, please click here: https://dcstructuresstudio.com/project/hooker-valley-pedestrian-bridge-2/
