Water of Leith Footbridge – driven piles installed!

Water of Leith Bridge Update: The works currently occurring on site are the installation of seven 18m long steel driven piles that will support the eastern end of the bridge and the 22m high steel mast.

These driven piles are being installed by local piling firm McNeills and are being performed in close proximity to the existing Leith Wall. Works are being monitored by Eli Maynard of Geosolve Consultants and to date the project team have already completed the most tricky driven pile (closest to the wall) without any detrimental effects on the existing wall being recorded.

Getting the first permanent part of the structure successfully in place is the culmination of many hours of careful design and construction planning by everyone involved and represents a great milestone for the whole project team!
