"I believe footbridges and cycle bridges are more than just infrastructure. They sit in the heart of urban centres and if designed properly, they enable our communities to become healthier and happier places to live."
Dan Crocker
Bridges are my passion. I think about them as I go to sleep, and when I jump out of bed each morning. Even when I’m on my holiday’s I regularly navigate our journey past some cool bridges to takes photos (it used to drive my wife crazy…. I’m slowly winning her over!). After working internationally for 12 years as a bridge designer, in 2016 I started DC Structures Studio because I wanted to focus my work of footbridges and cycle bridges. My Team’s core focus is creating vibrant but economical bridges that New Zealand communities can take pride in.
Clients can harness my passion and rely on my expertise. I am fully qualified in the field of bridge engineering:

Company Director & Leadership Team Member
Rebekah brings business savvy to DC Structures Studios. She helps with project organisation and leadership. Rebekah helps makes strategic decisions on all of our key business decisions and opportunities.
As Dan’s long-term partner and wife, Rebekah is the perfect sounding board and moderator for Dan’s 100 km/hr passion for bridges. She holds a Bachelor of Science (University of Otago) and a Master’s Degree (University of Auckland), providing the team with a wealth of management expertise.
3D Modeller & 2D Drafting
Pedro is a 3D modelling guru who helps Dan create 2D construction drawings. All our drawings are created in a 3D modelling space which helps prevent unwanted clashes on site.
Pedro works with these 3D models to create comprehensive and easily understandable construction-ready drawings.
Artistic Visualisations
Haris is responsible for creating our artistic visualisations, turning our technical concepts and drawings into dramatic scenes that communicate our ideas to clients and their stakeholders.
These visualisations include landscape features, people, animals, vegetation, and existing structures, creating a real sense of how a bridge will look its intended environment. This helps our team design bridges that match their surroundings, and helps stakeholders understand the project.
Geotechnical & Hydrological Engineer
Eli is DC Structures Studio’s preferred partner for geotechnical and waterway hydraulics design. He works for the highly successful Riley Consultants Ltd team.
We have worked with Eli since 2017 on projects with special ground conditions, such as the highly liquifiable soils around the Water of Leith Cable Stay Footbridge (2018). Eli was also responsible for geotechnical inputs on Laurent Swale Footbridge (2019) and the Toki Poutangata Footbridge (2021) and the forthcoming Manganui Gorge Bridge (2022).
Bridge Cost Estimator & Quantity Surveyor
Les’ company Truecost is our preferred cost estimation partner. He is a qualified Quantity Surveyor (NDQS) with a wealth of experience in pricing infrastructure and bridge-related work.
Les has worked with DC Structures Studio on many projects, including his estimation work on the Standard NZ Footbridge and the Jubilee Footbridge Value Engineering Review (2019).
Aerodynamics Engineer
Peter is our aerodynamics specialist. He helps us learn fast and iterate quickly. Peter uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) testing, which is a computerised wind tunnel, to test the forces different airflows will apply to a bridge, and how they will affect it.
Peter has a prestigious track record of testing and designing for Championship-winning Formula One cars, helicopters, architectural elements and a FIFA World Cup stadium cantilevered roof, as well as several DCSS bridges including the 90-metre Manganui Gorge 100-metre suspension bridge.
Marketing & Communications
Jamie’s company Wordshop is our partner for content, website maintenance, social media and marketing.
Jamie is an experienced journalist and creative project manager. In the unlikely event you spot any issues with our website, he is the person to talk to to get it fixed.
Paperless Office Ambassador
Born in March 2018, Noah still has a long way to go before he can join the DC Structures Studio Leadership Team or design a bridge, but he is meticulous in upholding our goal to run a paperless office (he’s got a keen eye for rubbish and isn’t afraid to tell the boss off!).
