DC Structures studio won the Supreme Award at the 2025 SESOC Awards, for our Wai Kahua Waka Footbridge design.
We also picked up the Small Practice Award, at the June 2025 awards ceremony hosted by the Structural Engineering Society New Zealand (SESOC).
DCSS Graduate Bridge Engineer Lucus Mactier was at the ceremony to collect the award.
“I spoke to one of the judges after the awards, and he said he was blown away by the project,” Lucus says.
“I think the Waka Footbridge hit on every category they looked at. It’s novel infrastructure, it’s sustainable, and a really unique factor is that this bridge incorporates art into its very being. The form of the waka isn’t just a pretty exterior; it’s built into the structure of the bridge.”
This is the latest in a series of awards for DC Structures Studio projects including the Gold ACE Award for the Manganui Gorge Suspension Bridge in October.
